For hair transplant surgery, the area where hair follicles will be removed is shaved. Next, local anesthesia is applied to this area. Then goes to the application of the selected technology. The FUT and FUE methods differ from each other by the method used to remove the units of the hair follicle from the donor area. By the FUT method 90% of the grafts remain intact, while by the FUE method this percentage makes up about 75%.
What is the FUT technique?
A follicular unit is a natural hair group consisting of several hair roots with the same nerve cells, veins and sebaceous glands. For the transplantation of follicles from the most appropriate part of the scalp, a strip is taken for transplantation and transported to the balding area. Then, the cut-off area is sutured. Up to 4,000 follicles can be transplanted in one session. This technique, although leaves a long and thin scar, it is a technique that provides long lasting results and a natural look with minimal damage in the area of transplantation.
With the help of a specially designed motor device or without a motor, the hair follicles (follicular units) are manually without using a motor by a specially developed manual device removed from the skin of the donor area. With the manual technique FUE, performed without the use of a motor, a slower procedure can be achieved; therefore 1500-2000 grafts can be transplanted in one session.
What is the FUE technique?
With the help of a specially designed motor device or without a motor, the hair follicles (follicular units) are manually without using a motor by a specially developed manual device removed from the skin of the donor area. With the manual technique FUE, performed without the use of a motor, a slower procedure can be achieved; therefore 1500-2000 grafts can be transplanted in one session.
However, the most important advantage of this technique is that it leaves fewer scars in the donor area and less damage to the collected grafts compared with the FUE technique performed by the motor.
The collected grafts are stored in the solution until the recipient area is ready, and then the hair transplantation process will be completed by inserting them into the channels opened with a sapphire knife. Due to the sharpness of the sapphire blades used to open the channels, the tissues in the transplanted areas will be less damaged. Since the recovery time of open channels is very short, the planted hair follicles are ideally compatible with the tissues in the treated area. The loss of grafts is less, their survivability is longer.
The FUE technique is a seamless technique in which the most natural appearance is achieved with the best hair density. The process of transplanting takes from 4-8 hours, depending on the size of the treated area.
What is the DHI technique?
Channels for graft transplant extracted from the donor zone are not opened separately; these grafts are inserted with special Pen Choi tools.
How is the DHI technique applied?
With the FUE technique, follicular units (hair follicles) are classified separately, and the doctor is carefully sort out them before implantation. Then channels are made and grafts are transplanted into early opened channels. The DHI technique can be described as an individual planting process.
The process of hair transplant is carried out by creating single channels in accordance with the natural angle of the hair using very thin needles. Thanks to the special needles of Pen Choi, the grafts can be placed consistently at more frequent intervals.
The main advantage of this technique is its density. Its density is two times greater than that of the FUT technique, from 40 to 60 grafts per square cm. This density provides excellent coverage of the bald area.
Hair design done by DHI method gives the most natural and successful results. This is the newest method of hair transplantation, closest to natural hair, a higher density of hair, a high recovery rate due to special Pen Choi needles.
